After World War II,  Fran FitzMaurice and his partners started an automotive business.  They were located on Watertown Avenue in Waterbury, where, at the time,  most of the new and used car dealers were.    They moved the business to Chase Parkway in early 1950. thus the name. In 1956, Chase Parkway was the second Saab dealer in the United States and the Volvo franchise was obtained in 1960.  Chase Parkway also represented British Leyland, Triumph, Peugeot, Simca, Citroen and Studebaker at different times. 

In 1971 Chase Parkway was approached about selling a new car from Japan, Subaru.  With front wheel drive, Subaru seemed to be built for New England, so the decision was made to replace Saab and Peugeot with Subaru.   The addition of the Subaru  All Wheel Drive models in 1975 made Subaru the un-official Car of New England.
